Scotchcast Plus Casting Tape Blue 82003B 7.5cm x 3.6m
Scotchcast Plus Casting Tape Blue 7.5cm x 3.6m
Scotchcast Plus Casting Tape (3M) is a fast-setting, polyurethane-impregnated fiberglass casting tape designed for fracture immobilization, splinting and orthopedic casting. This lightweight, high-strength blue casting tape (7.5 cm x 3.6 m) conforms easily, cures quickly with water activation, and provides a radiolucent, durable support ideal for emergency care, clinics and hospitals.
Key Benefits
- Fast-setting moisture-activated polyurethane resin — quick application and rapid immobilization.
- Lightweight yet high-strength fiberglass — durable support with improved patient comfort.
- Radiolucent (X-ray translucent) — allows clear imaging without cast removal.
- Excellent conformability — contours reliably to anatomies for precise immobilization.
- Low odour, low dust — easier handling in clinical environments.
- Standard 7.5 cm x 3.6 m roll — suitable for a range of arm, leg and pediatric applications.
Ingredients and Materials
Scotchcast Plus Casting Tape consists of woven fiberglass cloth impregnated with a moisture-activated polyurethane resin system. The cured cast is a lightweight polyurethane-fiberglass composite. Manufactured by 3M, the product is latex-free; check packaging for any material-specific allergy information.
How to Use
1. Prepare: Ensure skin is clean, dry and appropriately padded. Use recommended stockinette and padding per local protocols.
2. Activate: Submerge the tape briefly in room-temperature water to activate the polyurethane resin (follow 3M instructions for exact activation time).
3. Apply: Wrap the tape with even tension over the padding, molding to the limb anatomy. Overlap each turn by about 50% for strength.
4. Set: Hold the shape until initial set (minutes). Full handling strength occurs within minutes to low tens of minutes depending on ambient temperature. Avoid excessive pressure to reduce exothermic heat against the skin.
5. Finish: Smooth and trim edges as required. Verify circulation, sensation and fit after application and at regular intervals.
Who It's For
Scotchcast Plus is intended for healthcare professionals and trained first responders performing orthopedic immobilization, including fracture casts, splints and post-reduction support. Suitable for emergency departments, urgent care, physiotherapy clinics, and orthopaedic departments. Not intended for self-application without training.
Caution & Storage
Caution: Use only as directed by a qualified healthcare professional. Monitor for signs of compromised circulation, increased pain, numbness, tingling, or skin irritation. Avoid excessive tightness. During curing the resin generates heat; avoid prolonged skin contact with thick layers or hot water to reduce risk of thermal injury. Discontinue use and consult a clinician if skin breakdown or allergic reaction occurs.
Storage: Store rolls in original packaging in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. Keep out of reach of children. Follow manufacturer expiry and storage recommendations printed on the box.
