1. Wash hands thoroughly and prepare a clean, sterile field. Wear sterile gloves if available.
2. Open the sterile package without contaminating the catheter. Apply additional sterile water‑based lubricant if required (do not use oil-based lubricants).
3. Gently insert the Nelaton catheter into the urethra until urine begins to flow. Advance slightly to ensure proper placement.
4. Collect urine or allow drainage into a sterile container. Once drainage is complete, slowly withdraw the catheter.
5. Dispose of the catheter as clinical waste. Do not reuse—this product is single-use sterile.
6. If you encounter resistance, pain, or bleeding, stop immediately and seek medical advice.
