3M Nexcare Tegaderm Transparent Dressing 6.03 x 6.98cm 8 Pack is a sterile film dressing that protects minor burns, cuts, scrapes, blisters and abrasions from water, dirt and germs. Its breathable, transparent material lets you check the wound without removing the dressing.
It can be used as a secondary dressing over alginate, hydrogel or gauze dressings. It can also dress and secure IV lines, catheters or other tubing under a healthcare professional's direction.
Key Benefits
- The waterproof film allows showering and bathing with the dressing in place.
- Transparent material keeps the wound visible for checks without lifting the dressing.
- The breathable film lets moisture escape and oxygen pass through.
- Flexible material follows body movement for comfort.
Product Features and Materials
Thin, sterile film dressings. Hypoallergenic and not made with natural rubber latex.
How to Use
- Wash your hands, then thoroughly clean and dry the wound and surrounding skin. Remove soap residue and lotion before application.
- Peel the printed liner away from the paper-framed dressing to expose the adhesive.
- Place the dressing over the wound, leaving at least a 2.54cm border around it. Do not stretch the dressing during application.
- Press around the frame, then remove the paper frame while smoothing the edges. Press firmly, particularly around the edges, to secure the dressing.
- Check the wound or catheter site at least once a day without removing the dressing. Leave it in place for no more than 7 days, and change it sooner if it leaks, loses adhesion or new skin covers the wound.
- For catheter use under a healthcare professional's direction, centre the dressing over the puncture site and press it into place while removing the paper frame.
- To remove, support the surrounding skin and slowly peel the dressing back over itself in the direction of hair growth. Keep it close to the skin rather than pulling upwards.
Caution & Storage
- Do not apply to dirty, contaminated, bleeding, infected or puncture wounds. Stop any bleeding before application.
- Do not apply over a rash or use when there are signs of infection, such as fever, pain, redness or swelling.
- Do not use the dressing as a substitute for stitches.
- Do not use medications, injections or lotions beneath the dressing unless a healthcare professional directs you to do so. They may interfere with adhesion and irritate the skin.
- Do not stretch the dressing during application, as this can injure the skin.
- Covering a drug-delivery patch with this dressing may increase drug absorption and the risk of overdose.
- Do not reuse, as reuse increases the risk of infection. Use sterile dressings when combining dressings.
- Contact a healthcare professional if itching, burning, a rash, fever, pain, redness or swelling develops. Report a strong wound odour, which may indicate infection.
- Sterility is maintained only while the individual wrapper remains unopened and undamaged.
- Store in a cool, dry place and check the expiry date on the packaging.
