Accutrend Cholesterol Test Strips 25 Pack are used with a compatible meter to measure cholesterol in fresh capillary blood. They support cholesterol screening and monitoring.
Key Benefits
- Provides numerical cholesterol results within a measuring range of 3.88 to 7.76 mmol/L (150 to 300mg/dL).
- Works with Accutrend Plus, Accutrend GC and Accutrend GCT meters for cholesterol testing.
How to Use
- You will need a compatible meter and a lancing device, neither of which is included. Read your meter's operating manual for the coding procedure and test-specific steps.
- Recode the meter with the supplied code strip whenever you open a new pack. Check that the displayed code matches the pack being used; the meter will not measure if the codes differ.
- Before each test, inspect the window on the back of the strip. If it has turned bluish, use a new strip because the affected strip may give a falsely high result.
- Perform testing at 18 to 30°C.
- Apply a hanging drop of fresh or heparinised fresh capillary blood so that it completely covers the test area. Do not touch the test area with your finger or apply a second drop of blood.
- Keep the code strip until all 25 test strips have been used. Store it separately from the test strips to avoid damaging them.
- For quality-control checks, use Accutrend Control CH 1, which is not included. Compare the result with the acceptable range in the enclosed value sheet.
- Record self-testing results and discuss them with your doctor.
Who It's For
For cholesterol screening programmes and monitoring during treatment with lipid-lowering medicines. Testing may be performed in people with or without diabetes.
Caution & Storage
- For in vitro diagnostic use only. Use only with Accutrend Plus, Accutrend GC or Accutrend GCT meters to avoid incorrect measurements.
- Self-testing does not replace regular monitoring by a doctor. Diagnostic results must be assessed alongside medical history, clinical examination and other findings. Reference ranges may differ between patient groups; discuss their interpretation with your doctor.
- Store at 2 to 30°C, away from extreme temperatures. Do not freeze or use strips after their expiry date.
- Close the test-strip container tightly immediately after removing a strip. Keep liquids and disinfectants out.
- Do not interchange caps between Accutrend test-strip containers, as this can compromise the stated shelf life. Cholesterol and Triglycerides caps are blue; Glucose caps are white.
- Results obtained outside the testing temperature range of 18 to 30°C may differ considerably from the true value and should be treated as indicative only.
- Cholesterol measurements may be affected by intravenous vitamin C, bilirubin above 10mg/dL (171μmol/L), haematocrit above 55%, methylaminoantipyrine or gentisic acid.
- The cap contains a non-toxic silicate-based desiccant. If the desiccant is accidentally swallowed, drink plenty of water.
- Objects that come into contact with human blood can transmit infection. Healthcare professionals testing multiple patients must use normal laboratory reagent-handling precautions.
- Components may be discarded with household waste after home use. Laboratories and medical practices must follow relevant local disposal guidelines.
- For professional quality control, establish appropriate control intervals and limits, take corrective action for results outside those limits, and follow applicable regulations and local guidelines.
